1. Parents and students
Parent's authority: The parents or guardians of a student
(“Parents”) authorise the Principal of Regent
Learning (“RLC”) while in loco parentis to take
or authorise in good faith all decisions affecting the welfare
of a student. Parents’ consent to such physical contact
with a student as may be lawful, appropriate and proper for
teaching and to provide comfort to a student in distress or
to maintain safety and good order.
2. Admission and entry to
the College
Conditions attaching to offers: The offer of a place at the
College is valid only at the time it is made and is conditional
upon:
- Completion of the declaration at the end of the Registration
Form, which must be signed by the person(s) who are responsible
for paying the student's fees.
- Payment of the non-returnable Registration Fee, and where
relevant, the Registration Deposit which is deducted from
the first term's fees.
3. Fees
- Fees cover normal curricular class events, all other items
incurred by RLC or a student will be charged as an extra.
- Tuition fees are payable in full, termly in advance. Each
invoice must be paid on or before the first day of term.
Fees are the joint and several responsibility of each person
who has signed the Registration Form.
- Fee levels are reviewed annually, and may be increased upon
review. Parents will be given one term's advance notice
in writing of any increase in fees.
- Fees cannot be refunded or waived for absence through sickness,
or if a term is shortened or a vacation extended, or if
a student is released home before the normal end of term,
or (subject to the terms of clause 5) if a student drops
a subject. Parents are advised to consider taking out insurance
against loss of fees through accident or illness.
- Simple interest, calculated on a daily basis at the rate
of 1% per month, and all administration and legal costs,
will be charged in relation to fees, fees in lieu of notice
and extras that are unpaid by the due date.
- Students, and those responsible for paying their fees, are
liable for any damage they cause to the premises or property
of RLC, or of any organisation providing a service arranged
by RLC.
4. Events requiring written
notice
- When any of the events listed in clauses 4b and c occurs,
one full term's written notice must be delivered to and actually
received by the Principal. No other form of notice will suffice.
- A term's fees in lieu of notice (less any deposit held) will
be payable by Parents if, for any reason, they cancel their
acceptance of a place, or a student does not join RLC. Cases
of serious illness or genuine hardship may receive special
consideration on written request.
- If a student withdraws from RLC without notice as described
in clause 4a one term's fees in lieu of notice will be due
and payable as a debt at the rate applicable on the date of
invoice whether or not the place can be filled. A student's
decision to withdraw him/herself from RLC shall, for these
purposes, be treated as a withdrawal by the Parents.
5. Removal or/and expulsion
of a student
- Parents may be required, during
or at the end of a term, to remove a student, without refund
of fees, temporarily or permanently from RLC if the student's
fees are outstanding beyond what the Principal considers to
be a reasonable period or, after consultation with a Parent,
the Principal is of the opinion that the conduct of a student
has been unsatisfactory or a Parent has treated RLC or members
of its staff unreasonably, and such removal is warranted in
all the circumstances On removal fees in lieu of notice will
not be charged, but all fees then outstanding will be immediately
payable in full.
- A student may be expelled at any time if the Principal is reasonably satisfied
that the student's conduct (whether on or off RLC premises
or in or out of term-time) has been prejudicial to good order
or RLC discipline or to the reputation of RLC, and that the
continued presence of a student is incompatible with the interests
of RLC. The Principal will act fairly and would not expel
a student other than in grave circumstances. A review procedure
is also available. On expulsion fees in lieu of notice will
not be charged. All fees then outstanding will be immediately
payable in full.
- The decision to suspend, require removal or expel a student and the manner and
form of any announcement shall be in the sole discretion of
the Principal. Under no circumstances shall RLC or its staff
be required to divulge to Parents any confidential information
or the identities of students or others who have given information
that has led to the expulsion or the requirement to remove
or suspend which the Principal has acquired during an investigation.
- In the event of a Student's removal being required or a
student being expelled, the Principal will advise parents
of the procedure (of which copies are available on request)
under which a written application for a review of the decision
may be made.
- A student who has been withdrawn, excluded, suspended or
expelled from RLC has no right to enter any RLC premises
without the previous written permission of the Principal.
6. General conditions
- The Principal must be notified in writing immediately of any
court orders or situations of risk in relation to a student
for whom any special safety precautions may be needed. A Parent
may be excluded from RLC premises if the Principal, acting
properly, considers such exclusion to be in the best interests
of a student or of RLC.
- The prospectus describes the broad principles on which RLC
is presently run and gives an indication of our history
and ethos. Although believed correct at the time of printing,
the prospectus is not part of any agreement between the
parents and RLC.
- RLC reserves the right to make reasonable changes from time
to time to these standard terms and conditions, to the size
and location of RLC, to its premises and facilities, to the
academic and extra curriculum, and the structure and composition
of classes and the way RLC is run, to the length of RLC’s
terms and to any other aspect of RLC.
- RLC is unable to accept responsibility for accidental injury
or loss of property unless caused by its negligence.
