Ages: 3-13

The Entrance Exam Preparation programme for 4+, 5+, 7+, 11+ and 13+ is one of our most popular programmes. It prepares children wishing to gain entry in to grammar or independent schools for the admission tests and exams that are set by the school. North-west London has some of the highest ranking and most sought after schools in the country and competition is intense. We can prepare your child to ensure that they shine and achieve the results that they need to secure a place.

This programme runs term-time evenings and weekends. We advise that children attend for a minimum of one hour per week for each subject and consolidate and further advance their studies though our Holiday School and advise starting preparation as early as possible in their academic career.

We offer each child wishing to enrol on this programme, a free-of-charge assessment before starting the programme. We will give you feedback on this and tell you where we feel the strengths and weaknesses of your child lie. Once this is complete, we can put your child into a suitable group.

Children work from a variety of teaching materials and sources and are encouraged to develop a sense of awareness in regards to their own work. We also offer advice in regards to the application process and interview technique needed to succeed.

11+

The 11+ is probably the most well known and most popular of entrance exams for both grammar and independent schools. Significantly, it is at this age in a child’s education when they can gain entry to grammar schools which offer a traditional high quality of education but without the burden of school fees. Applications to grammar schools have increased dramatically over the past few years in response to the economic climatic difficulties to the extent that there are now an average of 10 candidates applying for every place at the most popular grammar schools. For those parents who are looking to put their child into an independent school, there is a wealth of independent schools in the area, several of them being at the very top of the top of the national league tables and being amongst the most desirable in the country and there is intense competition for places.

11+ Accelerated

The 11+ Accelerated Programme is designed for those children who need an intense burst of exam preparation. This is particularly suitable for those parents who have made the decision to enter their child for 11+ exams at a late stage or for those who feel their child is struggling and needs a lot of concentrated revision.

This programme, which is at a set price, involves four hours per week of study consisting of English, Maths and Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning and two full weeks of Holiday School offering a considerable saving compared to booking hours individually.

4+

The 4+ entrance exam is increasing in popularity as parents become more and more aware that getting children into a popular independent school becomes increasingly difficult if left to the 11+. Parents also often feel that getting their child into a school which has a dedicated academic ethos at an early age is very important as it sets the correct mind frame and attitude towards studies for their academic life and this is particularly the case as some schools are starting to withdraw the 5+ entry route.

We offer both English and Maths tuition in preparation for this exam as well as helping prepare for the group play aspect of the entrance exam.

5+

Similar to the 4+ entrance exam, the 5+ offers children a chance to get their child into the independent school structure at an early age. For some children, this is another opportunity after previously attempting the 4+ unsuccessfully at schools which offer it and can be a real opportunity given the current trend for decreasing numbers of places at the 7+ exam.

7+

The 7+ exam, though remaining popular with parents, is gradually being phased out at several schools. For schools where the 7+ exam remains, the number of places on offer is often lower than in the past. As the ratio of candidates to places available increases, children must get higher marks to pass the necessary threshold.

For this, we offer a programme of English, Maths, Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning with a focus on developing confidence, self-awareness and logic and an increasing ability to interact with the adult world.

13+

The Common Entrance Exam, often referred to as the 13+, is still commonly taken by students in preparatory schools. Students are normally tested in English, Maths and Science as well as other varying subjects. Unlike other entrance exams, the 13+ is standardised, that is, one paper is sat for all 13+ exams. This means it is very important to ensure that the exam that is taken is completed successfully.
